Don't know anything about the boat, but if you're restoring a 1250BP with a SSM, you're already startin' off incorrect.

It is an italian made boat?

I own a Canali wood racing boat of 1972, for a outboard of 60 HP, 4,70 meters long, about 13 ft, build in Como, North Italy.
I am not sure its is the same builder.
I know personally the builder (still alive) and I have his postal adress.
If I can help you, it will be a pleasure for me.

Good looking boat. Definitely Euro. Didn't build them like that in the US. Looks period correct with that motor. It always looked to me that the European v-bottoms were meant for really rough water.

I agree that it is a great looking boat, but the Raveau looked just as good.
Of course it was designed by a Frenchman and had the European look also.

Sorry Charlie but I Have to give the edge to the Canali in looks..... That thing is gorgeous....and had a vee bottom (not seen on Raveaus until recently). As far as rough water is concerned most European races were in hideous slop like Paris, Bristol, Rouen, because of the close proximity of sea walls and the large turnout of race boats..

The Raveaus were racing before the Vee Hull design became popular. Marcel left the USA and Bobby slowed down on building them about that time. Bobby did design the really nice Vee for the Raveau, but by that time others had come along.
In their day, from about 1958 to about 1965, they were the most popular and successful runabout in OPC.
I was luck enough to drive a couple single engine Raveaus and placed pretty high in almost every race.
I also got to race the Raveau cat. It was a little too big for the Merc 800s but really did good once the 100s came out. The only thing about it was it rode really great and smooth, right uo to the moment it did something strange. I have a few incidents with it and it ended up giving me a bitch slap to my left leg, putting me out of commission for quite a while. I walked with a limp for over a year!
I would love to have one today, but my wife would divorce me if I buy anything else until I sell some stuff.
