    40 Tohatsu

I just recently purchased a little boat with a 40 hp Tohatsu, one of the newer fuel injected ones. I was just wondering what yall thought about these motors compared to say mercs and omc's?

    Thanks,

    D

I've heard good things about the TLDI model, no real first hand experienced, just heard things. I'd be interested to hearing what you have to say about your experience with the outboard.

The ETEC's I've also heard great things with and have driven a few boats with them on there and was impressed for power to weight ratio and emissions.

I am curious too. Others thoughts on the new tohatsu mid range outboards?

Well the one that I now have is the 2-stroke version. So, I'm guessing that is a good thing?

Yup the 2 stroke TLDI model Tohatsu has had good reviews, but once again; this is not what I've heard from my own testing experience. Just a good positive word of mouth. There has to be someone on this website that has first hand concrete experience. I am a dealer for them; had nothing but great luck with the older ones; but not much expeirence with the newer 40's.

Sorry miss read the post re 4 stroke ,we son thrashes a 18hp and his good buddy a 50hp ,2 stroke obviously with out fault . With the injected motor you may want to run a little fuel conditioner from time to time .

GUYS, Merc doesnt make Chit, TOhatsu Nissan makes MERCs 4 strokes, not the other way around, check the built in Japan sticker....The TLDI is a class Leading motor, very fast, light, quiet, clean, and RELIABLE....plus they make it in a SHORT shaft still, alot of Racers used the older carbed ones for Hydros, I believe.....
