glassmaster 800ex
Hi guys, this jet drive thing is new to me, and am looking for opinions on a boat I am interested in. I have found this old dirty glassmaster 800ex with a V8 and jet drive. I live in SC, and quite honestly have never seen a trihull bowrider with a jet drive. Is this a common configuration in other areas? Are parts readily available for this thing?
I know it will need the (bowden?) cable for the jet nozzle replaced. Outside of that I have no idea of its mechanical condition as it was donated to a charity. I will say it looks as though it was kept docked somewhere for a while because there is some relatively minor corrosion on the jet drive housing, and there is a distinct water line around the hull.
The boat seems to be solid from what I can tell (floors and transom). Is there any scientific way to check for wood rot short of opening it up? I better than average with mechanical things so not afraid of a project, so long as parts are available.
