Steve,
That certainly is a Raveau..Bobby is building a 25 footer right now that may or may not run a inboard..Owner is on the fence
Gene,
Didn't you and Bobby Erra battle it out in the Stadium GCM once? Wasn't there a last lap pass?

Another Roy Ridgell photo from waaaay back.
Roy teaches Curtis Johnson at Sarasota Mercury School. Grewup and Kid; Curtis Johnson is still a Mercury Master Mechanic in Jacksonville. When I visited with him last year he had this photo, of himself with your Dad, hanging on the wall in his shop . He was very proud of having been Roy's student. - Steve Sirois

Steve, You are amazing - a plethora of information and photos. That is a cool picture and I did the same thing you did I took a picture of the picture Mr. Johnson had on the wall (of course, your photos better than mine). We met Mr. Johnson at Dad's Funeral in '92. He had nothing but nice things to say about Dad. He told me about the photos on his wall and I told him I would come to Jacksonville to see them. I didn't get there till '95 and it was great to talk to him about the old days.

Gene,
I was there, just don't remember..We had Bobby's boat all ready and backed up to the water, but no Bobby..He showed up about 10 minutes before the start, hung-over, and in the same clothes he was out in all night..He put on his jacket and helmet, with his Gucci loafers, and took off..We never thought he would finish, much less win..Hell of a ride..As soon as the race was over and he nosed up to the trailer, he puked..
I have a picture of us that Treasure took, but no article..

Love those Johnson/Evinrude "Big Twins". Was checking out the compression on a BT once, in my neighbors garage (was stronger then) and he made the mistake of touching on of the plug wire--did a half flip, feet straight up before crash landing.

Blast From The Past
OK, Let's find out how your memory banks are working tonight.
Who can name this gent from Miami Marine Stadium 9 Hour history.
I don't know if he ever ran in the GCM, but I know he ran with a red haired partner in the 9 hour. - Seeroy
