Gene - Great pictures, but in that series of pictures with Johnny and Billy Don, there is one boat that received no recognition. It is that awesome red Switzer wing with the pair of BP stackers - the one that is pulling the field. Wonder who the driver of that Red Bird would be

I think that was Stu Greys Carlson Johnny was in that day. From back in the field in my SE marathon boat all I saw was a lot of spray and boat parts. By the time I got to the scene all that was left was a bunch of debris and a driver floating face down. Imagine my surprise when I turned him over and found it was Johnny. I still wound up 2nd in SE that day despite the short stop for a swim.

40 + years later and the pictures still speak for themselves. It just does not get any better than this...

Boat #94 look's like a Switzer Wing hull, with Mercury Outboards using Stacks (three exhaust pipes
    per engine).

Could this be your dad? Refueling Billy Don, Clearwater, 1967?

Sad to say Bill passed away in January 1997 as result of multiple myeloma. We all have very fond memories of him.
OK, I'm going to continue and guess you, or someone close to you, served on a "Boomer". Am I getting warm?
Perhaps you have a brother named Tim?

Yes that look's like my dad wearing one of his many Mercury hats. This picture
is so telling of the unsophistication when refueling in the boat racing community then, and probably even today. That oil and fuel mixture look's so precise, I am
quite sure dad got it right.
This photo bring's back memories of that era in the boating environment. I have
never seen this picture, thanks for posting it. Roy's family will find this to be an
interesting action picture of our dad.
