90hp Optimax - Can I get more power?
Hi,
I own a 2008 Mercury Optimax, 90hp. Since the block on the OPtimax 75, 90 and 115 are the same, I was wondering how I could bump the horsepower up on my 90hp to 115hp...
Is it feasible? How can I do that? How much will it cost?
Thanks
BenoitBenoit

A grand beats the price of a new motor... I think...
The engine is great, the boat is rated for 90hp, but since the weight is the same, 115hp would be great... lower RPM at cruising speed, quicker hole shots... Not looking to race but... like Tim says in Home Improvement... more power huh huh huh huh!!!
What would I need as far as parts? Injectors? Computer?Benoit

Hi Benoit1967.
I`ve got a Mercury Optimax 75hp from 2007. This is sold new in Norway.
I`ve been told that this engine can be converted to 115hp by changing the pcm unit and removing the air restrictor.
But i``m not shure if this is works.
Hope to get some clues here . . . :-)

Optimax75... I haven't done the upgrade..but definately considering it.
I received info in an email... here is what I think will interest you..
I understand that it's only the pcm box and gear ratio that differs. In Europe, I think Lundins Marin R&D could make the change for you.Benoit

Opti upgrades
Lundins might be able to, and there is a place in Italy that might be too. See my links page for the site.
