For all of you GM enthusiasts...

There is a new museum that just opened up in Punta Gorda, FL, which is about 30 minutes north of Ft. Myers. The owner bought the old Walmart off of Hwy 41 and has made it into a display case for his privately owned collection of GM muscle cars.

I got a chance to walk through yesterday and he has a number of really nice cars. The old store is roughly 100,000 s.f. and it is packed with cars. His collection is somewhere around 200 GM muscle cars mainly from the late 50's into the early 70's and is supposed to be the largest privately owned collection of GM cars in the country. He has probably 60+ Corvettes ranging from 1953-2006. There are also a number of Camaros, Chevelles, Novas, GTO's and a variety of other cars.

I think he had about a dozen 67 big block vettes. He also had a gorgeous black and white 68 (or 69, can't remember) Z28 Camaro that was perfect. Had an 02' ZL1 Camaro which sported a 600 hp 427 small block. 1 of 59 built and was also an automatic, which was 1 of 2.

Some of the cars were for sale and somewhere around 25 were off-site and will continuosly be rotated through. One of the cars for sale was a re-production Yenko Camaro that was new. Had 2/10th of a mile on the odometer. Could be bought for $99k.

Anyway, for anyone that's a car nut and really appreciates GM cars, it's worth the trip. Was $10.00 to walk through, and they have a small restaurant and a gift area that included the beginnings of a speed shop supply house. They are also planning a bar in the old garden section scheduled for sometime later this year.

You could also get a yearly pass for $30. They will also be doing a variety of car events and gatherings throughout the year.
