1989 hydrostream canadian ed. Vision
I am considering buying a 1989 hydrostream Canadian Ed. Vision. From the pictures that I have seen interior and gell coat are in good condition, and the owner says the hull and transom are solid. (havent seen the boat in person yet). Does anyone own one of these boats? Is there anything that I should watch out for? How are they for towing skiers? Any info will be appreciated.

The problem towing skiers if you would be running a V6 is that the front of the boat rises high during takeoff. When the bow comes back down the ski bar does the same pulling the skier into a face plant. Experienced skiers do ok but most others have issues.
If the Vision/Hydrostream has a V4 or inline then I'm sure results would be much diffrent. They do however make a nice wake especially for slolom but a good aggresive slolom skier will pull the back of the boat around some.(Apricot)

Thanks for the info. I have a merc inline six 115 that I am planning to use on the Vision. Would this be a good engine for the boat? Why does a V6 cause the bow to rise so much?

It will be a lot faster than the J, but not quite as good for skiing. More bow rise, not as good tracking. Plenty good enough for a recreational skiier.
Check any old boat out for rot, core, transom, floor.
