460 header questions...
Hello gents, I'm needing some info or input about changing the headers on my boat.
I currently have through transom exhausts with log type headers and I'm wondering if I can change these to over the transom headers and exactly how much horse power I can gain.
Any input would be great, and very much appreciated.

A little more info.
I'm wondering with my hull design is going to be okay with over the transom headers.
My transom is a bit higher than your usual jet boat hull.
So that's my real question. Is my hull suitable for that change and would the increase in horse power be worth it??Last edited by UrbanLegend49; 02-02-2009 at 10:06 PM.

you will see a gain over logs.... BUT i think you are a bit tall for Over transom headers so unless you spent big coin for custom a standard set may not clear... now the Important thing... any good performance Center rise tube riser manifold is convertable using your existing thru fittings for the exhaust... but those are slim picking for the 460... and will gain you almost the same HP a over transom header will with less headaches logs are by far the most restrictive exhaust you can have... especially the older stuff

How much are you looking to spend? I have a set of used Basset thru transom tubular water injected headers I may be willing to part with.
IM sure these would be similar to OT's in terms of power gains and alot more user friendly in a boat like that."If you ain't hittin bottom.....you ain't jetboatin!"
