bridgport
I'm getting ready to assemble a bridgeport and have a few questions.I had to sleeve one hole and have to buy a piston/ring and wrist pin.The BP wrist pins are hollow and quite a bit shorter than a stock 2.4 which are solid.Won't it throw off the balance with a solid longer wrist pin? Does someone make a piston for a steel sleeve that will use the hollow pin? Thanks

My 2 Cents
I have never seen a solid wrist pin. T Rex posted about balancing that he put 3 different style rods and pistons in a motor and no problem. But thats T rex. I would try to find a like piston here on S+F. Lots of guys have STUFF.

yeah mercury uses a hollow wrist pin.. i have only seen the shorter wrist pins in the special bridgeport pistons that where only installed for a short amount of time.. all of the rest are standard 2.4... the pistons are same as late 2.4 200 chrome bores.. it is worth the time to make the cut and drill the holes to cool the bridge.. it has worked out realy well for me.. Pro marine is a good place to find pistons and single sets of rings if you dont have a merc connection..

Make the steal bores .001 to .002 bigger than stock and run chrome rings.

Yes
Run chrome coated rings. on steel bore. Stuffed pins are with one end closed or both ends closed. Question for US1... can you use non chrome rings in steel bore? I put a 3.4 together like that because I could not get Chrome rings for that motor. Like me know your thoughts on this if ya will. Thanks.
