I'm guilty of buying one, slapped the plastic, $3684.54 out the door with a software bundle, dot matrix printer and a few games like "Wheel of Fortune". Before I got it paid off it was obsolete, lmao!!! Been that way ever since, buy it, make monthly payments, and before the last payment it's either tired or so outdated no new software is compatible.

what's funny is, everybody is complaining here about the cost of budding technology, and hasn't said a word about their decreasing technology increase in that new Caddillac that you just shelled out nearly 50K to drive that has not produced 10% of the efficiencey increase that computers have in the same amount of time.

When I was a kid, I had a Tandy 1000 with the keyboard built into the main unit, with an additional external drive and monitor with 4-color graphics. I think they were based on the 8086 or 8088 processor.

Rob, that's great! It's no secret that I'm a vintage computer geek, so this made my day.

When I was a kid, my Atari 800XL kept me company during the cold NY winters. Man, good times - playing Defender and Miner 2049er after school and ice hockey. I was late to the PC game though - I used an Amiga 500 for a while before finally getting a Pentium PC in 1995.

My latest addition is this new-old-stock Atari 1200XL. USA-made model too, extremely rare in new condition.

I was thinking the same thing. I was going to compare it to the cost of living.
