Cool boat! I brought a 21' Superboat back to life a couple years ago! Great boats. How much are you planning to do to your shadow?

Also, while we are on the topic of Shadows, I was looking through Craigslist and found this for sale:

I'd like to keep her running as long as possible, probably slowly restore it as much as I can. In the short term, she's going to need some basic maint. and interior repairs. Also, if anyone has a suggestion about where I could get a new cover for the cockpit area that'd be greatly appreciated.

my family has a business in Albany, NY and we do great custom upholstery work. But thats a little far from you. There should be someone local to take care of it. There is also a great place in Brookfield, CT called Federal Cover that does great work.

Really nice boat, love the Shadows. What was in it originally, a 350 Chevy with Alpha drive?

If anyone has tips about the Merc 2.5 I'd appreciate it. I know the engine needs regular rebuilds but it currently has about 50 hours on it. What needs to be freshened up if it's been sitting a couple years? Thanks ahead of time boys.

If it's a 260, then you have some time left before you need to tear it down. If it's been sitting a couple years I would definately send the injectors out to be flowed, change all fuel filters, check the plugs, and go over the wiring harness make sure all the connections are good and there's no broken wires or anything.

It is a 260, so rings at 100 hours? I've got the owner's manual somewhere but I'm not sure the manual contemplates the engine sitting for 5 years haha. Is there someone you'd recommend sending the injectors to? Or anything I could do in a well equipped garage to check them out?
Wires look good, and I'm going to drain the fuel, change the filters, and check the plugs for sure. Trying to get a list of "must dos" prior to starting it to test it out though.
Also, is it a good idea to avoid the 10% ethanol fuel at the typical gas station? I think most of the fuel system was redone in the 90's when the 2.5 went on, but that was before ethanol was popular.... I appreciate the feedback guys. -Nick

Yeah you can send the injectors to a bunch of guys. I think Brucato, diamond, Brendan powers, Simon, DBR, are a few that flow them. I don't know if all these guys do it for sure but it's a good start. I would check all fuel lines for sure as well. For dry rot, etc. the 100hr thing for the rings and re nic aren't set in stone. You just gotta keep an eye on em. I'm not as knowledgeable as some other guys on the 260's but this should be a good start for ya.

We service fuel injectors. Usually same day turn around. Call the shop. Phone number and address in my signature. Thanks
