I wish i had pics of the way the tie bars were done in my old shadow truely a work of art.
They were aluminum blocks machined to accept the stainless turn buckles anidized blue and through bolted from the top side of the well to the bottom (one block on top and one beaneath) so there were no oversized holes or cheesey steering cable boots like on my challenger

Mine will be invisible under the raised well. I know Joey Impressia use to install them in 21 superboats. If I cant find a set of them than its up to Mercace to fab me up a set. 47 out

I was just busting your chops. U have no splashwell or lip now u really dont need tie bars. I guess it wouldnt hurt but the knees in your boat are rather large and should be more than sufficient... Better yet put about 200 lbs worth of tie bars in your boat, slow her right down

they all flex a bit, usually covered with molding.
I actually have a whole new outlook on the subject that we discussed, I think the balsa cored transoms of the progressions and the challengers allowed a small amount of flex in the transom itself, almost acting as a shock absorber where as the SB transoms are more stiff. The more you integrate the deck and modified splashwell to that transom the more of a chance of having a seam show up later on
hang 600lbs of motor, steering, and brackets 14-16" and it aggravates things alsoRaybo Marine http://www.raybomarine.com/

I agree with rob. The stiffer that transom gets the more force you are exerting on the seam where the well was modified. The constant loading and unloading of the forces on the transom are somewhat dimished from a little flexing. Think of it as a shock absorber.

Rob this is a piece of vinyl corner molding available at Lowes. Does a great job. Only fastened from the transom and some boat life so it can flex. So far no problem.
