I'll get that for you soon. This engine is probably going somewhere for TLC this winter, but seems to be running ok now. A little smokey and a little rough at idle. Only other concern is low flow from one of the telltales at idle. One flows well (starboard) the other just dribbles (port) but that might just be low pressure while the boat isn't moving. Going to take lots of time this Sunday to freshen things up a bit more.

40 years
40 years and still counting
i just spent about five hours on the Challenger with my daughter , probably one of the best rides i have had on the Challenger . Can't believe the Challenger is 40 years old . We did about a hundred mile loop. Got thumbs up from a bunch of people , and stopped by two former Challenger owner that said they wished they never sold there Challenger .
I have owned the Challenger for 30 of those 40 years. what a great boat for just blasting around!Last edited by challenger 77; 09-26-2017 at 09:14 PM.

It has been a long time. A lot has happened. Johnny if you still look at this site once and a while, this is an update of your boat. She is doing great. Unfortunately the engine, a Yamy 225 , was stolen in June. Lucky for me I got it back 3 weeks ago. The special police team found it lying on the ground at the robber's home, all scratched up. The engine will be repainted this week, but is in good condition.
I have a question, what is the best prop and pitch for this set up.
I have a 10' jack plate.

Has anyone run the newer Yamaha SHO 4-strokes on one of these hulls yet? Contemplating a new motor purchase for my Challenger, and from what I can see there aren't many choices. 250/300XS or the Yamahas. Currently leaning toward the 300XS but curious if the 4S is quieter or more efficient. Looks like they all weight 505lbs.

I have a back cover on my Shadow that once had a nice, padded, leather pad on it. Unfortunately, this pad went to ****. I am thinking about covering it with a 5mm EVA traction pad (sort of the material on surf board, or SUP traction pad). Anyone have any warning about that? Or better ideas? This photo shows the fairly large area behind the rear bench.
Thanks guys.
