YES, the only difference may be in the center main bearings, and it is important to get the right bearings in there, but it will work.
I already assume that you don't need the oiler gear?JOHN MASON

Yea, forgot to mention the top brg. difference.
I have swapped out cranks from everything in the past, (its like that when you are a poor boy)
If it wasn't for junk parts, I wouldn't be boat rideing as much as I do.JOHN MASON

Just keep the bearings that were on the crank with the crank. Some have lips and some are smooth (plastic cage and metal cage). If you put the wrong center bearing on it, it will destroy the crank. May have been what happened to the other one. You can call PRO Marine customer service at 1-914-748-7761 and they will tell you what you need to do. I went throught the same thing. Hope this helps.

It'z when ya start swapp'in 2.5's and 2.4 cranks iz when ya run into trouble!!....2.0/2.4s work in 2.5's witout bearing problens, it's tha 2.5(shouldered cranks) in 2.4/2.0s that warrant special bearings....
any pre 89 2liter will work in a 2.4 or 2.5, juss keep tha top cap and bearing wit the crank u use to assure correct top bearing(kuz they have 2 differnt size crank tops)....89 and later crqnks are the same az 2.5 cranks(bearings and all!!..large o/s diam center mains)
