Do you have to worry about the water in the core freezing and causing damage? I live in Florida, sorry if it'a a dumb question

Never thought of that... I would imagine the polyester might be able to take it, and that the water thats in there is not straight water but water soaked into the balsa and wouldn't expand as much as pure water.
Don't know about working under a tarp in winter in Toronto....it's colder than a welldiggers @$$ in Tennessee this fall...OK, I got down off the porch and ran with the big dogs....kinda sore now....think I'll just lay here in the flowerbed for a while...

Buy yourself a tempo and get busy, hell you can even put a small heater in there while your working. Get everything cleaned out and new stuff cut if possible so you can get to glassing as soon as it warms up..

Be careful with the tarp, some aren't waterproof!!! I found water in my vector the first few weeks of my restoration and was wondering where it was coming from till i was under the tarp when it was raining, and it was dripping through, and the tarp was new. I then washed the canvas one that came with mine, and bought waterproof spray from a boat cover maker and used it. After the winter, i try to keep the shrink wrap on as long as i can as i restore it, then reseal it with the tape.

I am in the middle of a core job as well and after getting the core out and most of the grinding done. I have found I've done most of the work outside and it nice when it's cold with more layers on less itch. Plus the grinding makes a huge mess in the shop. It has been in the low 20's this week.
Good luckChet Olson

UPDATE: I have been working on the vandal after school for the past week. Cut half the floor out. Someone I guess when they replaced the floor bonded some wood to the stringers to stop them from flexing. Found a patch where someone cut into the core? Sold the inline today and got the plate off the transom and cleaned it up a bit. Also cut the splash well out. Will post some more pics later. Brandon
