Opinions on Fountain 25 Sportfish
This year we sold our family cruiser and the way things are going I don't see be able to afford to get another one any time soon. I was great to have a family boat and MY BOAT, but it got way to expensive to continue to pull off. With that in mind I have been doing quite a bit of thinking on what kind of boat may work better as an all around family and fun boat. I have always been intrigued by the Fountain 25 Sportfish Cruiser as it looks like a pretty practical package with a fairly fast hull. However, like most of the boats I like, there isn't many, if any, out in my neck of the woods. So I am wondering if anyone out there has any experence with one of them.
There seems to be a few on the market asking about what I think the Activator is worth, but they are all on the east coast.
Are these nice boats?
Are they built ok? I know Fountains aren't known as the best per say, but are they solid?
Most of them claim speeds in the low 50's with a 225, do you think 60+ is possible with a 300xs?
How well do they handle chop and corners?
Are the cabins nice enough to actually weekend on?
Are the cockpits laid out well?
Any replys are greatly appreciated22' Activator w/ 250xs Merc Opti, back home again

They are nice built boats, I live next to the factory. They don't build many of the smaller ones. Never rode in one either. I have had many Fountain's and it is a well built boat all my boats have been sport boats and if I can't tear up one that says a lot Like I said never been in one of the small fishing boats, but I do know that it is not a fast boat, I have a 38 that runs 98mph if you want a fast one

Thanks for the reply DBS, I too have been in their sportboats, in fact a close freind currently has one, but he also had to do some stringer replacement last winter...
I understand that it wouldn't be a "fast boat" by Scream and Fly standards, but if one could hit 60 with 300 hp it would meet my requirements for a fast family boat
Anyone out there owned or been in one of these?
Maybe I have to post this on one of the fishing forums22' Activator w/ 250xs Merc Opti, back home again

OK, just got of the phone, it should run 60, but never tried, don't make that boat anymore, so never put a 300 on one, sorry but I tried.
