Good motor. If it is new old stock be sure the dealer primes the oil system correctly and take your time on break in.

    Z250

Every 250 2 stroke which I have had experience with(approx 10-15) has blown up at least once if not 2 or three times. All at about 80hrs.
There has been an oil pump upgrade from Yamaha but this does not appear to have worked.
If you purchase one good luck

99% of those failures is from the dealer not performing the intial start up procedure allowing the motor to oil itself properly. And after the new owner not following break in properly. They have very tight tolerences and it is critical that everything in the first 20 hours be followed to the letter. I've rigged A LOT of them and put the first 2-3 hours on the motor, very few have come back. Other than that a good motor. Stock up on Ring Free.

Follow the break in and proping to the letter, most of the problems i have seen with them are because they are slapped together and sent on thier way. With theese engines good enough is not ever good or enough.
