The future
Contrary to how my previous post(s?) were interpreted on this subject, I DO believe that the future will be in 4 stroke internal combustion engines for now. Even at the 100:1 ratios that I run my 2 stroke stuff, they are nasty polluters. I'll go get my 50hp 4stroke and a 16' aluminum skiff, and see you at the 21st Century races!

Benski, have you been asleep.
PLEASE take a SERIOUS look at the E-Tec, note the FACTS & compare them with the four stroke and then come back and REALLY tell me that you still believe that to be accurate & true statement & more importantly WHY!!!

Q. DO YOU KNOW what the biggest complaint is from E-Tec DEALERS: A. They don't make any serious money from servicing of E-Tecs. Most dealerships make SERIOUS dollars from service. E-Tec dealers make bugger all because E-tecs don's need serious scheduled maintenance from dealers multiple times a year. Just ask any E-Tec dealer & he will confirm that. Great for owners -

Emissions class rules
Whatever you call the class, the rules will be simple, any race organization needs to ask their selves what they intend to accomplish with the class, IE new entrants, new racers to the sport, grow the sport, have another class for someone to run in that is already there, etc. when you identify the goal, the way to get there will become clear.

E-tec magic
You are right..I was asleep at the switch and I apologize. I re-read things and it hit me. It will be interesting to see what the future of this hobby does bring, and when.

Hey etec 1
Like we discussed a couple months ago, the future of boating is no or low emmisions and soon the polluters will not be able to run, I think that is a very easy possibility to see. Why is the factory motor thing so scary for some guys, whether the motor is BRP, Yammie, Honda, whatever? When I was little everyone was worried about fuel injected cars, and that no one could work on them, more parts to break etc....The new breed of outboards that run DI technology (not 4 strokes) have such low maintenance levels that they require is so low minus scans on the computer most people could do it themselves. Now granted some brands have belts, pumps etc to change or do maintenance to but I feel that certain companies really have an advantage for now, we will see where legislation goes in the future. You said 4 star is the 2012 rule, I wonder what else will change, like carbed motors being not used in most lakes, simply because of the slicks of oil in the water and the clouds of smoke,,,,TIMES ARE CHANGING,SOME WILL BE READY SOME WILL NOT....Im really excited about this stock class hopefully if things can get worked out it will finally put some motor brand debates to bed, or open up some new ones,
