hydrostream never went after Skeeter for the odyssey X-110? Seems like they broke into hydrostream's plant and stole the mold and changed a couple of feature lines.

Gotta make a man feel pretty special to take someone's work, put your name on it and then sell it.

I saw one years ago up in the Houghton/Higgins lakes area. Was a Skeeter that looked like a direct rip-off of the Vector. Was fun watching him smack down the jet boats back then. Let's see, that was about 1979 or 1980, hard to remember back that far.....................

my dad bought the second preproduction wrangler hp150 new in 1975(hull id # ste01522m75k). he could not get insurance on it untill skeeter sent him the aluminum tips to make the beam wide enough. he ran it with a i-6 150 and then a 1500xs and from what ive heard tell of and can remember( i was REALLY young in '75 like 2yo) it was fast for the times. he told me that the boat had a terrible porpoise in the mid range speeds until some "rather large man" came from kilgore to sc and put some wedge in the boat at the outer strakes, after that he said it was great! as with most old boats look for there to be a lot of rot, as most builderds of the time didnt do a real good job of sealing the wood completely up. i would also like to see pics! mt

There was a pic of one and a story behind the Skeeter model on the www.hydrostream.org site years ago If I remember right. A buddy of mine got a hold of one here (years ago) that looked like the blue one that was for sale last year on here. Had a 10" setback on it with a big Rude. Thing looked like it was going down just sitting in the water.

    Here ya go......

the way the hull and deck were joined was totally different from the odyssey and the viper, also the odyssey had a distinct "line" running down the side toward the wings. the boat does not look nearly as refined as the h.s.

It was leaps and bounds ahead of hydrostream. There is two up here with 120 loopers that haven't been under particularly proper care and are solid. Overall too heavy and off balanced to perform as advertised.

Thanks for the info. One popped up local to me with a 85hp Merc and kinda wanted to know what to expect before I go look at it and or buy it. Even though it may not perform as well as the original.. still think it would be a cool boat. Besides I’m a sucker for any unloved boat from that era. Lol

I wonder what years they made them from. The two i mentioned were factory rigged with tbe loopers. One needed a powerhead replacement after a vro failure and the other I put a set back, steering and prop. It ended up with a 26 trophy and would run 72 with two people and gear. That one was built like a tank. These are the bass boat versions btw.
