So I spent all day replacing trashed trailer bearings, races and seals on the trailer and then the better part of 4 hours tonight taping the dash from port to starboard trying to find good spots for my water pressure and water/head temp gauges. The pic below was a result of at least 10 different orientations...none of which worked for line of sight with the steering wheel in place with the exception of the final result. I can honestly say cutting holes in the original dash raised my blood pressure a bit because once its done its done ya know???? I think it turned out pretty well and view from the seat with the 4" extension is still good. Whatta ya'll think????

Gauges look top notch Jeff. I wish I had put an extension on my steering wheel, might have helped my sorry driving skills.
You need to set a date and splash that thing!

Realy nice job Jeff.
I like to read that before cutting and drilling into the hull that you took time to truely think it out.Something most guys will never 2 thought .
This is just why we have so many streams out there that just look like junk....keep up the good work.
Im looking forward to seeing that viper up and ripping right next to me at 80...YAAAAAAAAAAAA

I was shaking after i put the shark eye front lights in
I was suprised at the 1/4" thickness of the hull.
my guages are still hanging under the dash

You're killin' me Q!!! I know In the beginning I tried to document as much of this as I could but as time stretched on I spent more time trying to get it done and less time talking about it so as far as a start to finish thread I didn't really do a very good job keeping with a timeline, pictures, or descriptions of what I was doing. I'll most likely edit some provious posts a bit with some more pics to fill in pieces later.
This weekend the boat hit the water for the first time with an apprehensive foot. It still needs dialed in but for the first time out, it ran really well and was MUCH easier to drive with a passenger....so much for thinking I had it close to balanced. The water was a little snotty in the afternoon and combined with my limited seat time I took it relatively easy......but the few short blasts I made with 2 in the boat saw 6100 with a 26 and it was still pulling. So overall it was a good weekend. More to come...1976 Hydrostream Viper - 2.5 EFI
