    Thumbs up SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSssssssssssswwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeetttttttttttt.........

    as honey, RM......

We never did talk Vettes in Jasper. I bought my first one when I was 17 (still in high school). Kept it 4 months, flat ass broke after that. Sold it and made $400.00 on it. Thought I was rich. Got $5200 for it. Get this, it was a 70 L-46 350/350, Muncy Close Ratio, 4/11 rear, GM side pipes, all factory. One fast car, same as the LT-1 with 11 to 1 comp except it had hydro lifters instead of solids. Not such a smart sale now a days ha?

    Nice

I have a friend - he has a 71 LS-7 (did I get that right?) convertable taken apart to restore and never did. What's something like that worth?
71, Convertable, 454-4spd. Gold / Black interior were the original colors.

Actually it would've been an LS6 if it was a factory car. The LS7 (454) was roughly the equivalent of the second design L88 (427) with the exception of the extra 27 cu. in. and the L88's aluminum heads which arguably made little or no difference in performance. The LS7 was slated for the Corvette in 70, but it never got past the front office and that's the reason there were no LS6 70 model Corvettes. Unfortunately, the LS7 never was factory installed in any GM car, although they were widely sold as crate engines. I have one now in a 69 Camaro that I always describe as "the car GM should have built". The LS6 was installed in 4000 + Chevelles and El Caminos in 70 only and approx 177 Corvettes in 71 only. These are the only factory installations. Claims of LS6 Monte Carlos and 71 LS6 Chevelles are widely accepted as bogus within the car collecting community and there's never been a documented example of either, although weak claims surface from time to time.

Your friend's 71 LS6 if documented would be a rare car and valuable car when restored to current standards. They typically seem to hover 20 % or more below the 68/69 L88's which probably have a real market value of about 100K now in the real world, although some have been advertised recently for as much as half again that price. (there were also 20 67L88's made but they command prices of 500K and up on the rare occasions when they change hands)

Incidentally, I'm always a prospect for a project like the LS6 car if it's documented and enough of it still there to make a worthwhile attempt at correctness.
