yea... I know, it kind of sticks open sometimes. But a new one is on its way!

And to be correct, its not a 'kill' switch! Its an 'Engine stop switch'!!!!!

Why thank you CC! hahaa (but I dont know if that is quite appropriate for this site...)

Is naming the boat "manatee killer" (with a pretty picture to go along) going to be bad karma????

Well, this past week end I got a little time to play with 'er. Put some hydro-turf and under pad on the side where you sit... what a difference in the back and ars pain department!

Also raised the motor 1" and tried adding a little cup to the prop, since its closer to the surface and wont get as much bite in the turns. (I know, I didnt have it cupped the right way! But the prop isnt in the best shape and its an elcheapo Al. prop. )
Those two things resulted in the nose riding a bit higher, made it MUCH MUCH MUCH LESS twitchy at WFO but, it doesnt quite turn as sharp. Another, I guess plus, is that it doesnt 'water wheelie' as easily as did before. However a Wide open never let off hole shot, the front only comes up about half as high as it used to and planes out very fast and is GONE!
Im going to try triming it out one hole more and possible move it up another inch next time out and see if she will start dancing on the back end...

Still dont have a GPS run yet... but working on getting out with it.

Also dont know what RPM its turning (but isnt bouncing off the rev limiter), a friend has my tiny-tach.

I then borrowed a 15 merc from a friend and the boat was cool to cruise around but nothing exciting.

So then it came to me having to find an engine... I hit up every marina and not a single one had anything worth a darn. The only other place I knew to check was a little boat shop place, well he had a 1987 Yamaha 30hp 3 cyl.

He said the motor ran three months ago, and it was in almost new condition. The only rust or corrosion is on the steering tube and the bolt at the bottom of the transom bracket. Took 'er home for 400 bucks, cleaned the carbs, checked the gear lube and went through the whole thing. Started up 2nd pull.
It sounds like a merc v6 in and out of the water, it sweet!

Took it out to the lake just before dark and holt $*** is it fast! Never got it over half throttle and it does and easy 40 at under half throttle! Cant wait to bolt 'er down tomor. and really romp on it!

Will have some pics up tomorrow and possibly a video!
Video and photos please! 60 in a Fliver! Good Gravy! Cool though!

Powertech makes some nice props for that motor. Always wanted a fliver ever since I was 5 or so and watching them on that tv show that used to show them race around cypress gardens with chryslers on them

    Thumbs up

I saw one of these on ebay last week and found out they were made in new prague MN my home town. I will have to find out more about the builder, it's a small town now so it should be easy to find out more. Cool boats I would have bought it off ebay but the neabors don't like the 3 boats in my yard already.

Right now I am 33mph on the GPS turning 5250-5300 r's with a 10 1/4" x 11p cupped aluminum prop (which I am really upset about! But it is way too stable at that speed so that only means one thing... MORE POWER!). I got rid of the elephant ear stocker and found a new merc prop for 30 bucks. It has Propco stamped so I dont know if its a repaired prop or if they made it...

I havent flipped it again yet but have launched some serious boat wakes out at Sebastian Inlet and got the boat and motor a solid 3-4 foot out of the water.

Also have some sweet graphics coming for it...

Yes sir, I bet that was a fast boat!
Was the motor a 2 or 3 cyl.?
There must have ben some work done to the motor?!?!?

I was able to pick up a solid 300 rpm with just a few very slight mods today and gain about 2.5 mph.
Also the bottom end torque is almost to much right now! Cylinder 2 and 3 had some worn out reeds. I replaced them with some stockers from the spare power head. Also bent the reed stops out more so the reeds can open slightly more at WFO (I think those two things had more to do with the increased R's than anything else).

On my other power head I will definitely be raising the ports a bit to get some more top end... a slight loss in some bottom wont hurt!

The 30 was a three cylinder back in 1991-1992, it ran in the 40s, upgraded to a Yamaha 40 with an over the hub cleaver and pushed it to 55ish. Both engines stock. The boat was a 13' Lee (out of pensacola FL) Boat (I think based on an old smaller allison). I originally ran it with a tiller, but after flipping it I had a console put it.

Yea they made a 3 cyl from '87 to 2002 on and off (but only in a 15" like 3 or 4 years). But they also have/had a 2 cyl. 30 for a few years.
