Looking for Speed Coat
Back when I was drag racing we did our bottoms with this tuff called speed coat. It was supposed to be good for a couple mph but most of all it was good after you would work on bottom to coat and blend. If anybody knows where I can find some please help. Todd

I believe you'll find equal or better results with primer sanded with 320 to 400.

If you really want the stuff the blow boat racers use it.

This is what blowboaters are using
http://www.mclubemarine.com/hullkote/ It's slightly different from the typical polish w/teflon
RainX is another that gets used..

I agree with Racemand and Wile!
The results of "Go-Fast" applications seem to be somewhat inconsistent as far as improving performance. Many of these do nothing more than remove the wax from surface (getting the wax off is good).
If it's top speed you're looking for, polishing or waxing the surfaces can make it slightly worse. The "slick" surface will maintain a "laminar" water flow for a little longer on the lifting surface, which generates slightly more drag than a separated, turbulent flow. This is the "stickiness" that can be experienced when running on very smooth water or with "polished" or waxed running surfaces of your boat bottoms.
Best results seem to be achieved by wet-sanding with fine emery cloth (use 400 grit). This will take out all the scratches, but won't create the "stickyness" or "sheen" that causes the additional drag.
Here is a good thread on subject of surface finishLast edited by Jimboat; 09-24-2008 at 04:05 PM.

Try Lubri-Bond A. Made by Everlube. One of the west coast marine catalog places used to stock it.

I'm not an experienced expert on this particular application, but my niave perspective would say that the combination of wetsanding followed by superhydrophobic / low surface energy coating (silicone-based like rainex or some of the newest siloxane-based two part polyurethane coatings) should give the greatest degree of turbulentd flow and minimum drag.
