No, 45 is not run in the northeast. You will have to travel to run that class.

If you are interested in 45, 850 Mod or D Stock might be worth considering as they do run in the northeast. There is plenty of Stock and Mod racing in MD, NJ, NY, PA and ME

Come to the race at Millville the first weekend in October

    www.hydroracer.net

    or

    http://tinyurl.com/BRF-outboard-racing

Going laydown is not necessary in the larger classes ... the smaller classes like A and B are totally bone jarring, not just to the knees. The bigger boats ride much smoother.

There is no guarantee of safety in anything you do. I know of one guy that got run over by his dog at 7-11 and had a broken leg (the dog was driving his truck, its a long story).

Getting thrown out of the boat isn't much different from falling off waterskis in most cases. In the worst cases you hit something else; but that is why there is so much safety equipment; helmet, impact jacket, Kevlar pants and sleeves. I got bruised when I fell out, but that was all.

Coming to the races at Millville and checking it out is the thing to do. If you are seriously interested, you can probably get a test ride.
