**NEED HIGHER RPMs & HIGHER SPEED

I have a 1987 21' Velocity that I just put a Mercury 99' 225 Pro Max with a 24P Trophy Prop and the RPMs are only 5500 and speed is 60MPH. I set the motor shaft 1" below the pad. I was wondering if I should lower the motor or raise it. I do not think I am getting up on the pad. Any help would be appreciated John

Well he is running a trophy prop which is completely differant from a chopper prop. what does the boat weigh? you might want to try a 21 trophy because that motor does not really start making power till ya get to 6,000 rpms. So in your case a lower pitch 4 blade or the same pitch in a 3 blade will help you get the rpms up and your speed up to. This is because you need to get in the motors power band.

Also, the motor is a 99' but only had about 40 hours on it. It was like it just came right out of the box.
