opinion on 150 opti
I have heard good things about them but it seems like only bad things happen to mine. In the short time Ive had overheating problems at idle which is still not fixed, had to change the oil container on the engine because the low oil alarm would come on eventhough it is full, and then a lower unit bearing somehow came apart and ate the drive shaft. Want some opinions on the engine good or bad. It is a 2000 150hp optimax pushing an 18 dolphin flats boat.

I've got an '08 175 Pro Xs on my tri-toon fishing rig......love it. From what I've read and gathered from friends, the early Opti's...99-01 had some problems. The '02 on up are much better in all aspects. Do yourself a favor and give this guy a call, he's a new moderator on www.Bassboatcentral.com ...Don Weed (864) 421-0444 ...he's a long time Merc tech and REALLY knows his bidness!!!!
