What's the difference between Merc 1" 15 Spline and Omc 1" 15 Spline Prop shaft?

I know the splines on the OMC are shorter than the Merc but...

    Is it overall length?

Is it the Thread size on the end?

    Is it the taper?

    Thanks,

    Ken

A Merc prop will only go about 1/2 way on an OMC

You can slide an OMC prop on the Merc. I don't know what else may be different.

Nothing really. The OMC splines are about 1" or shorter than the Merc ones. If you take a Merc prop and go to put it on an OMC propshaft, you have to drill away some of the splines, or rehub it.

So a prop with an OMC hub should be considered universal between Merc and OMC?

when running the omc on a merc you will need a shorter lock nut I think.
