    Alien Cowl Latch

I bought one of Wayne Taylors hood scoop alien cowls. They come with no latches. I plan on gettin some bungee style latches and mounting them on there. Do you think the fiberglass might crack eventually from stress where I mount it? Kinda leary about drillin some holes in that thin fiberglass Definately gonna have to make a backing plate.

    Cowl latches

Find the right place and then drill your holes where you want them. Get some good fiber glass cloth/mat combo and make yourself some backing, maybe four inches square,1/8" thick and laminate these pices over the center where the cowl latches will go. If at all possible use epoxy resin, much stronger and easier to work with. As it is almost dry you can put a little water on your fingers and smooth it out. This will take care of you problem, done it many times.
