    Picture test

I think I figured out the picturing posting. Like the above post states I've had this boat for about 5 years but for some reason I never took a picture of it. Current set-up is...1998 20.8' Lavey Craft Sebring with a 99 300 Pro Max spinning a 23" high five. Hydraulic jack with 14" total set back. With this prop it doesn't scream or fly but will run all day with a boat load of gear and people. I have seen 78 mph on gps with a prop change. I think that was with a 28" trophy +.

Nice ride Billy. Need pics on the water...boats in a driveway never look quite as good as they could. Also I would like to see the interior. I want to change my layout a bit.

    Hi T,

What props have you tried and what were the RPMs on the 260?

That is a good looking boat! Very balanced looking with the big motor.

I ran a 27 " Yama Copy " quite a bit. It would run 91.7 with that prop. Its been about 6 or 7 years ago so my memory may fail me as far as RPM goes

It was a modified 260 with modified porting , bored horn , 155 psi compression and a 1" spacer. As I recall both props I ran turned under 8000 RPM. 7500-7800 was normal.
The Yamacopy didnt have enough bow lift for the best top end.
The only other prop I ran was a big ear chopper re-worked by Spinelli for a bow heavy Shadow bass boat. That is the one I got 94.7 mph with. A world of difference with bow lift. The Yamacopy had a ton of slip on accelleration and it worked well for powering the Lavey up to 90 MPH. I never reilized that the 260 had a limited bottom end untill I put the Chopper on it. I wasnt used to the Merc straining at all.
All of that being said "full lift" needs to be obtained at a lower speed to decrease E.T.
A blueprinted Bravo 1 is supposed to be the best prop for top end and I suspect acceleration. I say acelleration because when I ran a 30 Bravo 1 (way to much pitch) the bow didnt drop and the hull didnt drag. I trimmed it up hit the gas and it stayed high. It basicly held the bow up instead of waiting for the hull to get enough air under it.

Good luck and let us know what works.
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Props

I ran the Lavey this weekend and tried a few props. The lake was like glass and not what these boats like. I ran a 26 Mazco but had no bow lift. Just had the hop at 65 -70 and didnt want to come out of it. I put on a 28 Chopper and did the same. I put on a Turbo TXP OT4 27" and the boat finally had some bow lift. I ran 86.5 on GPS MPH at 6,600 RPM. I think if I had a 25" and get the RPMS in the 8,000 range it should run mid 90s plus. I am going to try and find a Bravo 1 25" to try and also a Turbo TPX OT 4 25". Anyone other help would be great.

Those #'s show a 4% slip. As good as could ever hope for if the prop is really a 27 and the tach is right.

    27 x 6600 x .535 x .000946 = 90.18 mph, x .96 for slip = 86.57 mph.

The prop doesn't look to have been worked. It has had vent holes drilled. Its a little slugish out of the hole with this prop. I am going to call Turbo Props and talk with them. As far as I know the tac is correct.

Do you have a 1.87 lower? If it's 1.75 the slip would be 10% (86.8) which is closer to what I would expect. If you are realy getting 4% that's fantastic.

I have a 1.87 Lower. I talked with Turbo and they said this prop is more like a 28" at the trailing edges. They were not much help but they have someone calling me tomorrow. I am going to talk with Performance propeller in Tenn tomorrow and see what they come up with.

Moomba, you need a built case. I would highly recommend a case with a one piece shaft and a large bearing carrier. Best of luck.

I have a CLE with a Bobs Cone that has a cracked skeg on a lower. It has has good internals. I am going to put the internals in another case. Here is the Question.

Do I put them in a stock CLE case or a Bobs Coned 200 Case??? I have one of each that I could use.

This turned out to be the last run of the year, unless it's 70 some day after hunting season.
