From what I know , the pervious owner smoked a piston and his boat mechanic took off the lower unit and filled a insurance claim saying motor was damaged beyond repair . Insurance paid out 15k , I was told, the insurance company took it to copart in San Diego. Two months prior I had purchased a box truck from copart and I saw the boat there on crib blocks and two months later it was in Yuma, az.
Just this weekend I put a new motor on the boat. I bored the block ,30 and added all new goodies in it. It's a 3.0l 250 mercury. . Paint is going on the engine cowling this week. I'm guessing I have about 3k total in the boat.

Hello Guys,
How may of you have winches on your trailers? If you have them please post some photos of the set up. I have a simple bar that swivels up and down and you just put a pin thru the holes in the bar and the bow eye. This set up seems to put a lot of stress on the bow eye and the front of the boat. I have been thinking of adding a winch set up to hopefully reduce this stress.
Thank you!

Good timing! That's what TunnelT was asking about so I just took some pictures. I had problems with the trailer flexing because the boat was only supported by the bunks. I added a "V" support and that helped a bunch. I have a winch but only use it to pull the boat up on shallow ramps then use the bar. On my Cougar MTR I only have a winch so have added that picture also. Sorry not much detail of the bow eye but it pulls up against a v roller. I think whatever you do it should be adjustable (bolted on) because it makes it much easier to set the balance of the trailer.

Thank you
Thank you Guys!
As much as anything that support up just below the numbers (That mine doesn't have) on the boats is what has caused way to much stress while trailering. hydr0_scrm2 That is a very simple and Clean way to do it! I powder coated my trailer years ago but never changed the swivel bar set up. The only stress cracks on my Lavey are from trailering. I own part of a machine/Fab shop in Indiana. Looks like a winter project added to the to do List!!

Trailer work
300 Looper (Old Screen name)
I don't have all of the photos yet but more to come. There was no support in front of the bunks on my trailer so with ideas from yall we started the work. First things first cutting out the Rust on the 31 year old tube trailer. I had added a brace and scabbed another cross bar in to get by. But it was past time to fix it correctly.L.T.
