Haha - you and me both!

    1995 Sebring 20.8 with a 1996 2.5L 260.

2.5_stoker really did all the leg work for me so that all I had to do was fly out to Arizona, check it out and sign the papers. He was kind enough to even tow the boat back to his place, store it there and prep it for the long trip to Ohio! The boat had a blown motor but really I was only looking for a nice family hotrod that I could insure and the wife liked. Luckily for me this 1 "checked all the boxes."

Right now the boat is at ModVP22's house since April, where we have been re-rigging all the hoses and wires and making sure everything is in good working order while the block is out for repair. Most of the motor pieces/parts are reusable, but I ended up picking up a set of Wizard Pistons and some nice reeds with the help of YELLOWSS. We are hoping that the block will be back to us in about a week or so and then it should be off for assembly.

Overall the hull is structurally sound and the gel is in nice condition. Interior should get redone this fall (it's pretty weathered) and then we'll start trickin' it out a little bit (although it already has a nice stereo so that's a plus).

I've boated most of my life but this is my 1st ownership experience so doing all this work has been a great learning experience. It's nice to have friends like MODVP22 who has been a great resource and helped me every step of the way.

Since I never even got to test it I am looking forward to seeing what she can do. Without the Scream and Fly none of it could have been possible, so THANK YOU S&F!

(BTW -- I don't have a ton of pics yet. Been so busy with job, working on the boat, etc that I haven't even taken many pics other than what's in my signature. I'll try to get some more soon)

Thanks! I did the same as you and went through everything when I got mine. Checked all the wireing, installed Livorsi gauges and steering wheel, new head unit and rewired the stereo. I just wish I was able to afford the JSRE 260 that was on it when it came frome Arizona. I think Moomba said it did mid 80's. If you're into waterskiing the wake is AWESOME!!

Props to 2.5 Stoker and ModVP22 for pulling together and helping you out! I tell you what, this site and the members have a wealth of knowledge. There aren't many people in my area that know much about this kind of stuff. I wouldn't have been able to do my offshore mid converssion without the guys here. They walked me through it step by step. You're lucky you have a knowledgeable friend to give you a hand!!

Db ,been away from site for awhile and thought id check back in ,db first off how much setback are you running i feel the 20.8 needs aloy of weight way back in the boat to carry the nose.my cousins 20.8 runs 90 with a warmed up 260 .your 300 should put that thing into 90's for sure ,also your prop shaft should be exactly 1inch above center pod.my cousins boat the setback is at 18 " and it could use a few more or a 300 xs hanging on the back...TUNNEL T

Good Looking boat! No 19footer that I know of. Just the 18ft and the 20' 2". The 20ft 2" with a stock 260 will do over 90mph.
I would think an 18ft would be close to 100mph.

Yo Tunnel T. I miss mine. I think it would have been a great hull to run a 300XS on.

I have run a best of 87.4mph with a 26 pitch turbo TXP prop on it. Boat currently has 11 inches of set back via a 5.5 inch manual and a 5.5 inch power cmc jackplate. I am in the process of switching over to a Bob Machine 10 inch extreme jack plate because the CMC I have are starting to egg the slide holes on the power plate with the added weight and power of the 300X. I am going to try it with the one inch less set back and see if it effects the speed at all, if it does I will likely put 2 inch spacers on the plate to get 12 inches of set back. I do not think I will go any further than that as the boat has already started to develope some cracks at the inside corners of the rear seat on the back inside edges (I assume from the added power and weight of the 300, the boat use to have a 2.4 Bridgeport on it when I bought it from SMS about 3 years ago). If I ran 18 inches on it I think the boat would porpoise like crazy at cruising speeds and I think the deck would have a hard time staying together with the added leverage on the transom.
