This new setup will run cooler pull 30 punds off the tail, reduce the number of belts and driven accessories and give me back about 14 HP I can put against the prop.

Well yesterday I had the pleasure to take Uncle Daves 20.8 out for its first lake test with the fresh motor.
Now I've been in and driven all of Lavey's current models from the 21xcs to the 39 EVO, but have never driven a 20.8 and all i can say about this boat is WOW!! It's one of the coolest and bad ass boats I've driven!
It handled everything with complete ease. Acceleration was one of the sickest parts of the ride aswell as how it turns on rails!

With the fresh motor I believe it's around 500hp and 520 ft/lbs... It blew right through a 25 pitch mirage and a 26 pitch bravo1. So I put on a lab 28 pitch bravo1 and was able to pull it to 6000rpm going 86mph with 3/4 tank of fuel and 4 people. Conditions weren't very ideal for top speed runs being that it was windy and choppy so if it was clam and no wind with 1-2 people and less gas, I believe it could run 90 with that setup and possibly even pull a lab 30 pitch B1...

All in all... One bad ass boat and thanks a lot Uncle Dave for letting me take your boat out!

Thanks SMS - its a blast to drive and pulls surprisingly hard.

Quite stout for a small block.

It also runs amazingly cool even when held wide open for substantial lengths of time.

Super fun- thanks for all the help with the shake down and props JR.

    Nice!
my best top end was 94.7 with a worked 260 Horn motor. I gave up on that obsession. It would be so easy to buy one of the new DFI 300hp+ motors and break 100mph with ease and reliability. I had to about kill the G-Force 260 to get 94+.

With out a nose cone I break 80 with ease with my 225 fishin motor

I know the weight is better in the back but it only seats 5 and no way to watch a skier. It only holds 25 gallons which is usually about a day and a half. My Baker has side tanks, 18x2 which easly gets me through 2 days. It seats 6 and the passenger seat swivels 180 for ski observing. I may set up a swivel on the seat because that is a big problem but the tank will stay like it is untill winter. The other option is to get through this summer and set it up with the 2 jump seats for the "seats 7" and observe from a jump seat. I really like the swivel passenger seat though.

Dave's Sebring is an awsome ride and very easy to drive. I jumped in took a couple laps easing it up a bit at a time and watchin the speedo climb. When I got it aired out it felt very solid, very nice ride on the bumps. My Baker on the other hand needs to be driven when it's up. Don't get me wrong I love driving but the Baker with a 220 "fishing motor" only went 70. I'm not sure how much I would like it at 90. It felt pretty light on the water. I expect the my Lavey will be somewhere in between. I don't know how you pad vee guys do it. I'm too old to be dealing with chine walk at those numbers.

bob, if it still has the poly cell in the back thats a 32 gallon tank !!!as for the front seat just spin it around and observe your skier . i know its been through two owners since i had it but there isn't any part of that boat that i haven't been!!! have fun with it and call me when your going to sell!!! I STILL MISS THAT LITTLE ROCKET!

We have five, my son has a 20.8, another friend has an XT-Ski, Uncle Dave has his two and my 20.2.

My son and I were in the channel Saturday along with six other various non-Laveys. Dave and the XT should have been there... Had a beautiful run down from Moabi, played in the channel for a few hours then back up at sunset. Pulled back into the park just at dark.
