If you were smart keep looking for a better boat . I have never seen one with outboards but I have driven a few with big power. The last one being a 35' with twin 650hp Cobra blower motors it ran like a elephant dragging a cow through the water with a top speed of only around 75mph . They are very very heavy boats very uncomfortable ride and for a cat it takes a ton of power to get them on top and packing air. Plus they are just ugly boats!

You never ran in a 35' Chris Cat with big power, small power or a rubber band wind up engine...
Chris Craft never made a 35 foot cat.
Given that the 30 foot (the only length ever produced) Chris Cat won World and National championships in both Outboard and Inboard configurations, while setting some World speed records to boot.... plus the fact that you have no idea even how long they were...... makes your credibility pretty suspect.

No 35s, but the 30 ran pretty decent with both in and out boards. Its a old boat so just make sure you get a good deal.

Flying Tiger (Sonny Hawkins) has one up here that supposed to run over 120mph with supercharged motors. I think he said it was #1 out of the mold.

There was one for sale a few years ago. It seemed like the owner was trying to sell it for a long time. It was rigged with 4 Mercury outboards.
There is actually one for sale right now with I/O's. The owner is claiming 90 MPH. He wants $15,000.David

i remember seeing these boats as a kid and i liked them. The thing i like about them now is that you can sleep in the boat if you need to most of the other cats you can not.
The one for 15k looks like the race model that did not have a under deck.
there is one for sale for 39k over on OSO that does have the under deck.
i think American offshore is close to the same setup isn't it?
Just a little Cat.

The one I'm looking at is $9k. Not as good a deal as I thought.

How are they in rough water? How strongly built are they? That cat in Maine looks like a pretty good deal.

We rigged a 30 from the pleasure version to race by stripping it and reinforcing the tunnel and deck 1/2's for Tommy Caruso and his father John(Team Euro Marine) back in the mid 80's and ran the circuit against Team Skater (high point and world champions) w/ their 32. It had 3 2.4's across the back and was up into the upper 90's while Tony from Ocean was running over 100. My best friend growing up, Charlie Jelenik drove for Tommy while we were the "Wrecking Crew". Tommy still has the boat under a cover of dust in his yard in Norwalk I believe..I also remember driving for several run on the sound tuning her in....
Being over 20 years ago, I remember that it easily packed air w/ a taller tunnel than the skater and handled the rough pretty damn good, but required more hp than the skater to perform the same. I can't remember the gentleman's name, T2X, but Tommy had a friend that went to the trials in Florida with blown motors and got high speed, same model but with the "radar arch". This was before everyone upped the hp game.
To the best of my knowledge, a good "old school" hull but growing on in yearsEldest Moron Brother

I remember these boats were the ones to have when they came out, typically ran 90 mph plus,I allways wanted one , but were out of my $$ range, now everything is cheap if you have money, My friend used to race one, he said it was great.Did superboat make a cat similar to the Chris Cat ?

I think they made one a little shorter than a 30.. There is one here that has twin Second Effort V-8s on it and I'm pretty sure it's a 25 or 26 footer. Runs very well and over 100mph for sure. I can't remember but think the old own which i knew said it run like 118 but that was before GPS. I would say for sure 110. All I know was I was in it and it would haul ass. Rode in it out the Houston ship channel and into Galveston bay and back to the river. Smooth ride in 2-3 foot chop.
