help on prop set up on a mirage
Ok, whats the best prop to put on a mirage for everyday cruising the lake.
I'm 6'4" and 300lbs. Right now the only way to get the nose up to ride comfortably is just about WOT. Its either 25mph. I need to know what prop to run to get the nose up so it doesn't plow while riding in between.
any help is appreciated

A Little more info would help but Choppers are good Bow lift props.

It's a Mirage, that's how it runs until you get it up and moving. An occasional mist in the face is normal. Trim attitude doesn't affect bow lift very much until you really put the hammer down.

Sorry guys, I guess I should have given you more info. It has a stock 97 model 2.5 Efi
that has just been re ringed and I have a CLE lower. I ran it this past weekend with a 27 pitch Hoss triton and turned it 7000 rpm. What kind of top end should I expect out of this. Also it has no water pressure at idle and normally will run about 180 degrees all day as long as your moving. There is a new waterpump and housing that was just installed and the block is plumed like a 260 hi perf with no t-statsLast edited by rudejunkie; 07-08-2008 at 07:06 AM. 18ft Mirage w 6in set back. merc 200 2.5 Efi 20 in mid with a CLE gearcase with computer work done.I dont know the extent of computer work. gearcase is about 11/2 in above pad.I ran a hoss triton 14x27 and turned it.7000rpm. Looking for a top end prop and a good lake riding prop

Et
I'm with Rob. I like the lift of the ET wheels. If you have a fishing 200 you might need a 28. I run a 30 but the take off with a load suffers with stock 200 power. Mike

rudejunkie:
Now you starting to get the feed back I was telling you about in my PM. Set Back first. Lift second. Then start playing with props.
I always play by this rule for myself. KISS = (KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID). One change at a time.
PM me if you need something!!!

The fellow's original question referred to getting the bow up while going 25 mph. My response was that a Mirage at 25 mph is always going to ride fairly flat (responding to positive trim with mostly just roost), unless it's a copy that weighs 500 lbs and has a big Evinrude set back 9" off the transom; until you lay the throttle down and get some "levering" bowlift.
