What does adding cup do to a prop?

usually knocks off a couple of 100 rpm's... might give you a touch more bow lift depending on the style of boat, and prop. this is from my exp.

Think about it like this............try swimming with your hands/palms flat...........then the same thing with your hands/palms "cupped".................
