Question Prop help? - 1988 Hydrostream Voodoo

    Hey guys i have a 1987 hydrstream voodoo (260 lbs) with a 1988 50hp longshaft mariner.

Currently running a (10 3/8"dia x 18" pitch) cupped stainless chopper, takes a while to plane.

Looking for something with a bit better hole shot.

    Any prop suggestions? Pitch?

    Thanks.

18" small diameter through hub Mercury cleaver. The bigger diameter ones won't let it turn enough RPM. The 18" chopper is a great top ender but hard to plane.

    Lots of $$$

Part # 48-891506A03 (11"dia x 18" pitch) Retails for about $780 USD. Another thing that seems to help the holeshot, is getting weight of of the ass end of the boat. I run a garden tractor battery as opposed to a regular full sized marine battery. I also see you have the motor on the transom. I had HydroDynamics make me a 3-1/2" setback, with zero lift built into it in the lowest position which effectively lowered the motor and worked well.

A cleaver will be worse for planing than your chopper.

I tried a cleaver when I had my Voo Doo and it was barely possible to get on a plane.

was your a through hub or an overhub. Through hub cleaver kills an over the hub chopper for planing on these boats. And that my first hand experience.

I had a small 25 HP cleaver that was re-hubbed for the 60 HP Mercs. It was a DAH modified beauty.

The prop hub that was a lot smaller than the motor hub. A combination of thru hub and over hub. It would barely plane. It wasn't near as fast as my round ears either.

    I have an 18" Merc thru-hub cleaver

It's about an hour away but I'll try to get a photo this weekend.

Does 400 plus shipping interest you?

    LMK,

    Thanks
