    DF40 spark plug black

My dads 2000 Df40 has the bottom plug thats is black with carbon. It had new plugs in for first trip. The motor has a lot on hrs on it with nothing done to it but oil and filters. Noticed when we returned from fishcamp that the motor was hotter than normal. Just changed the water pump last year and we do not have saltwater. Thanks

Oil was very black when i just changed it. Botttom plug was oil fouled very black. Middle plug a little black. I have run sea foam through it with no help. Does not idle very well and whenrunning it feels like it surges. Tested the injectors with ohms and they came out within limits. Cannot find a compression tester that fits. Any other hints?

It has had fresh gas run through it. It does not idle much only from the boat harbor to the river. I have run the motor hard to try see what was up the first time. But the oil turned black quick. The bottom plug gets black very quick and the middle plugs takes a while to start getting gray/black.
