Electric water pump on v-drive
I've looked on the site and haven't been able to find a good discussion on the use of electric water pumps on V-drives or jets. Who has experience with this? Good idea/Horrible disaster waiting to happen?
I'm not sure with it being an "open" system if if would even function but I could see some advantages if it would work.

When we bought our V-drive it came with a electric water pump made for a fish pond or something like that. You couldnt run it at high speeds or it overheated. This week we put a cam driven Magnaflow water pump on it and it works great.

Good to know. I've seen electric pumps as the preferred method on the strip but didn't know the practicality of it on a boat.
Anyone else?

magna flow is a good choice, very simple, easy to change impellor & will last a good while if you keep trash out of raw water intake.best to keep a spare impellor around as a backup . iv'e seen some dragboats use electric pumps to cool block after a pass with an intake hose in a 5 gallon bucket of water..on the trailer. dont think it would work too well when running
