    Actually, it's a 32 valve head...

No blower yet. Only the truck and the newest Cobra getting a blower. Be a great car to put the blower on though........

    Thumbs up

    Right no supercharger.
This is very similar to the last lincoln MK8 in powertrain. Its the 4.6 DOHC with an automatic transmission which limits it top RPM allot. The Cobra 4.6 DOHC makes solid power past 6400 and freely revs to 7k with stock hardware. The 97-98 MK8s had the Cobra heads and made them stronger motors than the early models even tho they were rated the same. The new Merc has the Cobra motor in it. Not a mercury or Lincoln version like the MK8 but the real deal. It does have changes to make it work with the 4speed automatic but its mostly Cobra. Think Crown VIC Police Interceptor or Grand Marques with killer paint and seats. Stacie wants one of these soo bad!!! I cant bring up any other car and she says..... NO I want a Mercury Marauder!

They broght 4 or 5 of them on the Hot Rod Power Tour this year, they are a nice looking car, but they were really slow when they ran them in Columbus, OH. I will have to check with one of the guys at work, but I think it went 16.10. Now that's not too bad for a 4 door but they were leading people to beleive that they'd run with a mustang GT.

Nitrous for your motor is like cocaine........a little probably won't hurt, the problem is only doing a little!

Who are they trying to fool? Run with a GT?

    I'm guessing 1000lbs more and only 42 more HP's.

The SAD part was they had a Christmas Tree in there display at every stop on the Power Tour and they didn't run worth a dam compred to what they were advertising. They stayed at the same hotels as us at I think 3 stops so we got to see them up close.

No way they could.. Ford doesnt think so either, they are not even trying. Some Idiot sales person probably said somthing stupid like "Its faster than a mustang..."
Yes they are a solid 4200+lbs and that motor in a Cobra with a 5 speed had a hard time ruling the streets. I beat most DOHC Cobras with my GT mostly due to the fact that I make power alittle lower in the RPM range and hook it up better. Put a Cobra Supercharger on a Merc and you have a 400HP Steam roller!! yes then the mustangs and Cobras Better watch out!

The problem is the MOD motor is Ford's self proclaimed least efficient engine produced. the newer ones are starting to come around, but all you have to do is look under them and notice the either 4 or 6 CATs on them. The core value on the USED cats brings more money then any other CATS. The reason is the high platnum content in them to get them to run clean enough to be legal. One of the groups that traveled with us on the Tour are a group of GM engineers and I asked them about GM doing an overhead cam type engine and they replyed that the LS1 and the V-10 version of it are so reliable and so efficent that the overhead cam projects are sorta on the back burner for now.

If Ford wanted to get serious..

They'd forget the 4.6 and just shove the 5.4 blower motor from the truck into that engine bay and be done with it.

I was looking forward to this car

as an eventual replacement for my 96 Impalla SS tow vehicle. I hoped they would put the 5.4 in it with the fancy heads.

The Impala will easily out pull it and it does not need premium.

The 5.4s dont fit between the shock towers so they cannot be built on a regular assembly line. Remember ford wants to make money on these too. Their has been a rumor they may put a blower on this car if sales go well but I dont buy it, it would cut into the Cobra mistque too much.

    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Are why the Impalla was discontinued. They wanted the facility to produce Surburbans and the like.

I guess a 460 is out of the question then.
