Well what matters most to "me" is that the bulk of the money as in profits stay here in the USA. What good does letting some US citizens put together vehicles that are made up mostly of foreign parts and then having the profits leave our shores? Sure it's good for the workers doing the assembly, but in the grand scheme of things it hurts our economy. Take a good look around, completely USA made products are far and few between. it's a sad fact of life that companies are having to outsource to be able to keep thier heads above water anymore. Still waiting on some details of these smaller etecs

they may be lighter but i want to see one run 1st. the carb 25/30 was the slowest 2stroke in the 25 class. displacement doesn't always mean faster either. mercs v6 is always faster stock than yammie's and evinrudes and the merc is smaller displacement 2.5, 3.0, and 3.2 to yammies 3.3 and evinrudes 3.4. when suzuki had a 3 cylinder 25 4 stroke it was faster than merc 2stroke, honda 25 4 stroke, nissan/tohatsu 2 stroke and the slowest of the group the johnson 25 stroke. the test was done by Bass and Walleye boats on a Seark 1542 jon boat about 4 or 5 years ago.

If you ever doubted that BRP could step up with their new 25hp then click on the link below. These motors really are awesome.

This is a 2009 triton vt17, a heavy, all-welded boat. we had 2 men, 2 batteries, 12 gallons fuel, livewell filled with water, and 12p alum. propeller, and this boat would get to 25mph. with 1 guy, i was getting over 26. we have a hp restricted lake nearby, and that was the reason for us testing this engine on such a heavy boat.

...and the point is? This isn't a 20 H.P. motor?

The OMC carb 30 was always the slowest in its class??

Fraid not...I have a box stock 1989 30 Johnson that pushes a 15.5 foot pad v hull with my 220 pound butt in it 39 mph. If I tweaked the set up I could get 40 no problem.
