A friend of mine who just bought a 29' Mirage that had years of bottom paint on it, just had it soda blasted. I haven't seen it yet, but heard it turned out real well.

How does that work ? Is it the same concept like sand or media blasting?

My friend Alex got his boat back today and it looks great. Soda blasting does no damage at all, just strips off the bottom paint.

Those interested in Soda blasting
Well it had about 3 years or more of bottom paint and for $850, it's essentially gone. It's done no damage but will require some wetsanding and a good buff.
Here is one picture, I will get more posted. Ayone in Philly or Southern Jersey, the guy who did it is Tony Gambardella, he is on Rt 322 near Williamstown. He is a drag racer/speed shop but invested in the soda blasting machine. Call him at 1-856-728-4225. He's a great guy and about as honest as you can expect.
*****file was too large to post. Feel free to email me at sureal722@aol.com and I will send some before and after pictures.*****---------------------------------------------

No such thing as good AND cheap bottom paint. Spend some time with a competent salesperson, and be prepared to part with what seems like an inordinate sum of money. The tradition continues...
