Trailer Fix......
hey guys, im new to this forum and i must say, its given me a lot of good information. I have a question regarding a boat that i just purchased. its a 1984 baja 170 ss, with a cox trailer. the guy that had it before me ruined the post that bolts to the tongue of the trailer to hold the winch and bow bump stop. its all twisted out of shape and i dont know if i will be able to bend it back to the correct spot does anyone know where i can get a replacement post setup for this type of trailer? any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Evan

Welcome to Scream and Fly. Winch stands are easy to come by, but generally overpriced in my opinion(I'm pretty cheap). I'd poke around local boat yards first, and see what they have for used ones. If no luck there, you can buy one on Ebay, Eastern Marine, and a few other trailer sites.
I'd recommend posting a picture of what you have, can give more specific advise then, if your handy, and know a welder, it's easy to fabricate one too.

Good reason
You have a perfect reason to justify buying a welder.

From someone who has been welding on all sorts of stuff for over 30 years,I would NOT turn a boat trailer winch post into my first welding project, there are too many things that you need to be practiced in to have it come out successfully. If all other options are exhausted, take your bent post down to certified welding shop and have them duplicate it for you. For less than $250.00 you will keep your toy on your trailer, and that sounds like a bargain to me..
