did you see the one that just sold on ebay? I think it went for $400+. Cant understand why no one makes these things anymore, or maybe I just am not looking in the right place, but it seems so much cooler to have an actual outboard on a tunnel IMHO.

I know!!!!!!!!!! The guys that have the tooling for these motors are not doing anything with It and will not sell the tooling for somebody who will!

    Amps motors

Yes they are cool but more than anything else they are novelty engines. Very first RC motor I had was an Amps, never made it to the water, it blew up on the stand. When the powerhead blew, the jolt broke the gears in the lower unit.

Amps outboards were always too heavy and the prop, being directly under the powerhead, was to close to the sponsons on standard racing tunnels. That is why Amps tunnel boats did not have inset transoms. Their boats always looked good because the company got permission to measure and scale down lifesize tunnels such as Seebolds and Van der Veldens.

hey mark, i didn't know about the full size allisons. pretty cool. being a mopar nut, and growing up around "stackers", you having one with chryco stackers just makes me smile. one of my neighbors and his son (brooke and ronnie russell), back in miami, set the miami to new york record with a 16' allison runabout/walk thru windshield v hull back in the '60s. another one of those fond memories of growing up in miami. btw, welcome to s&f!

    Chrysler

Yeah man, had my eye out for one of those and finally found one. Fired it up the other day, what a noise and fire comes out of the stacks when idling! Any of you other guys coming to the RC tunnel race in March? Would be a good place to find leads on AMP motors.

The blackhawk was rated very bad but, The motor In the first pic works great. Check out the last few post on this link and you will have a source If you want scale. There are also g-morty/lawless cable outdrives.
