    Mercury Serial Number

    Hi guys,
was looking at a boat to buy today. She had a 200 hp mercury on her approx age 2002.
There was no serial number sticker on the transome bracket,is there another location on the engine where the serial number may be????????
This is all that is stopping me from buying her.
    Thanks for any help
    Cheers
    G

The date iz stamp'd on tha powerhed on tha port side...az fer tha SN, I'm not familliar wit.....It iz hard to keep up wit sn'z when ya don't have a complete/from tha factory mota.....replacement powerhed, broke clamp bracket, etc all tend to break up Sn's and make it impossible to keep up with...good luck

a lot of them have it on the plug. i will say 150, 175, or 200. the best way is to check the # on the powerhead by the timing arm, where the front half meets the block.

That's correct. The newer (80's) started putting the serial # on the welch plug on top of powerhead. BUT.........Not always the case.
