Magnum Missile
I have a chance to get a Magnum Missile for next to nothing. My dad has some experience with them and says they are well built and run nice in a small chop. The boat needs everything, but thats ok.If I do it it will have a 175 merc on it.Im not going to do anything before I finish the CHallenger (which will take most of the summer).ANyone have experience with the hulls?

Yes.
A V6 on one is suicidal and you shouldn't consider it under any conditions. They're blowover threats at anything over 70 MPH and a friend's first cousin got killed when he blew one over with an inline 150 on it. The boats are built with TONS of lift in the tunnel and packs way too much air to run with a V6 on it. I have a splash of one also, but it's got an inline on it and IF it ever runs again it won't get aired out to it's max even with that engine.Membership upgrade options: http://www.screamandfly.com/payments.php

Blow Overs
I too saw one blow over with a 2.4 carb on it and the person died, he was trying to catch someone in a drag race and kept on the up trim and it didn't take much for it to go over. My advice is NO V-6 just like Raceman said!!!!

agree with the above. However, the person with probably the most experience running that hull on here is Parker. His dad, Randy Rabe, bought the molds from Aronow and built the boat as a Rabco Hustler for several years. Parker learned to drive tunnels on this hull and started when he was 8 or 9 I think.
If you have specific questions he might be able to fill you in in some detail, but you have already gotten real good advice as to the amount of air they pack and their propensity to go airborn. Still a really cool boat, good luck and have fun.

Did they not race this hull with v-6's back in the day?

The missle wasn't a race boat in the first place, but rather a lake boat with seating for 4. It was designed when the BIG engine was a 110 to 125 HP. (1960's) There were enough people hurt with em with inline 6's that it was VERY uncommon to see one with a V6 when those motors first started coming out in the mid '70's.

The other piece of this puzzle is the fact that the hull was popped from a Schultz Hydrocat (Austrian hull). The early Schultz hulls had two problems, if you trimmed them down to avoid backflipping........ They stuffed like a mother_______! This is a no win situation with a V-6 because the hull will give you no warning and, up until it kills you,....it will feel like a Cadillac.
