Paraffin
Paraffin is a wax.
I've always heard that it was the worst base you could use for a motor oil. Motor oils before synthetics were either paraffin based or Pennsylvania crude oil based (most anyway). The paraffin based oils had to have all kinds of additive packages added to the oil to keep it from resuming its original "wax" state (solidified). I had it happen once using "STP" brand oil about 20 years ago. The oil turned solid after 500 miles. Had to scraped out of the oil pan! Seized the oil pump on a Ford 289 SB
Synthetics changed everything. Now there are so many variations or blends of synthetic/crude it's amazing. But paraffin was always bad. For 2 cycle, it's either synthetic or straight bean oil.
I wonder what this stuff is?
