short/long block
what do some of u call a short block.? i call a short block both halves all assembled with the crank bearings rods top and bottom caps all assembled with no intake or heads.i also sometimes see this same description called a long block in the for sale adds.

I think people get car motors and OB engine terms mixed up. I don't use the term short block. I use long block and it consists of Block , front half, heads, all bearings , all pistons, rods, crank, top and bottom caps all assyembled... ( Even these block do NOT come with an intake or reed plate ) That is the way a new long block will come from Mercury .. I might be wrong but they ( Mercury) might even call it a service block..
If I were selling or buying a block as YOU described so that I knew what is was buying and or the prospective customer knew what he was potentually buying I would say an assyembled block with matching halves with rods , pistons, and crank installed less the the heads....The more that is communicated about the item in question the less likehood somebody is confused .........
