Powerhead Swap for 1989 Johnson GT 150
Considering a 1988 200 powerhead. Is this a direct swap? If not, what parts from the 200 will be needed?:
Thanks

if you are talking about installing a 1988 200hp powerhead on a 1989 150hp midsection then its straight foward, get the omc base gasket for the better quaility.

I've never attempted it though I think it is possible if you swap out the exhaust housings and adapter but, I don't think it will be straight forward. The 150 is a crossflow design motor where the '88 200 is a Looper design, totally different creatures.

dynobob is correct you will need the exhaust housing from the looper to put on the crossflow mid and it will work other than maybe shift shaft needing changing as well, Matt
