May trade my river rocket for a xs2003 grand sport.
What can I expect from this rig?
I have heard that coming off my training wheels will be tough, but what speeds can be expected of this rig with around 300 hp.
If this deal happens some support will be needed on proper set up of this rig so I'm counting on you A-Boat guys for some help.
A man thinking of converting,

Eddie,
Go For It!!! I have always wanted an allison. It would be a neat challenge to go from an STV or Mirage to driving an A-boat. Just think, once you learn to drive an Allison, you can always go back the other way. I like the Mirage, but I love v-bottoms,especially Allisons, of course! I mean, a v-bottom is so sensitive to trim, steering, setup. Man, what a blast it would be. Sometimes in the Mirage, you don't even have to trim. Although, A-boat run really good with little trim. If I had the chance, I think I would convert. I saw a Grand Sport run really well in the two past ODBA races. He runs it in Lake Racer.
Good Luck, keep us posted

Allison
Fasteddie:
I have driven both my buddy, Gofast's, Jaguar and have had my Allison GSE for 3 yrs now I guess. Totally different boats, both fast as hell. I am a little on the chicken side, but my Allison is good performance motorsports fun. As far as top speed, Mr. Crazyfast Boatguy from Avon, MN claims 104 in it although I will only claim mid 90's. Your Mirage will outrun it on top end but be wary because the Allison will not be far behind. Beautifully built boat, best I have EVER seen as far as workmanship, although a little on the heavy side @ 950 lbs dry list I think. Roomy compared to a Mirage cockpit but if you have alot of pounds in passengers the performance drops off quickly...same story in your Mirage though. Lots of storage in the back compartments. Wind pushes it around pretty good but reasonably predictably. You just keep the nose down and still go like hell. Really big waves suck but it will take more chop than the Mirage without getting you wet. Likes props without alot of lift, some cleavers, ET's, SRX, Yamaha all good...never tried a Hoss.....choppers tough to drive. Yamaha style probably my preference although I just got a couple of ET's which I haven;t run much yet. V-hull takes some seat time so I wouldn;t plan on punching it and holding it there for too long your first time out. Probably the slowest Allison model. Wish I was boating right now.......See wheelie photo @ scaryfast.com...click "sales", then "Allison". Photo taken on Minnesota River, St Paul, MN.DBK

I see after reading my post that I messed up. Subsitute "river rocket" for "Mirage" throughout my post. The STV vs Mirage crowd will love that mess up...sorry. I am thinking of getting a Bayliner Capri w/ 90 Force...waddayathink?

Ally GSE
99.4mph on GPS with a box stock 225 promax and a 30" "Performance" yamadrag prop. The boat is awesome. I'm looking for more though and I think I will find it in an SS2000/280 merc.
